Without question, the right light for your plants is one of the most important factors for a successful indoor grow. In other words, your grow box or grow room should be illuminated as homogeneously and evenly as possible so that all plants receive the desired amount of light and can develop in the best possible way. The importance of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR)

Photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) is essential for the healthy development of your plants. That is why it is very important to use a measuring device specifically designed for this type of radiation, such as the Apogee MQ-500.
Only the use of a PAR meter allows you to create optimal PAR light conditions for all plants in your grow box. This enables you to identify so-called "dead spots", for example, or detect old lamps with declining PAR values in your setup. Likewise, this PAR meter helps you distribute the produced light effectively across your plants without causing them to "burn", for example due to so-called hotspots. In the grow box, light reflection from the inner tent walls also plays a significant role. Here too, the Apogee MQ-500 provides highly valuable information to ensure the most homogeneous possible supply of photosynthetically active radiation to your plants.

More light efficiency through electronic ballasts (EVSG)

A PAR quantum meter also provides very valuable support when using high-pressure sodium lamps (HPS) in indoor growing. Using the MQ-500, we were able to find out that the use of an electronic ballast can increase the PPF value of a 600-watt HPS lamp by up to 200 µmol/s per day.

Professional and precise quantum measuring device

With the MQ-500, you get a highly professional and scientifically proven instrument. The MQ-500 Quantum Meter from Apogee features a handheld meter connected via cable, which displays and stores measurements. The sensor contains a blue-enhanced silicon photodiode and specially developed optical filters with a robust, self-cleaning sensor housing.

The meter features sample and logging modes and records an integrated daily total in mol m-2 d-1. Sample mode records up to 99 manual measurements. Sample and logging measurements can be reviewed on the LCD display or by downloading the data to a computer.
